Getting started

DR-Terminal is an SSH/SFTP client for Android, Desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux) and iOS. Below is the shortest path to a working shell.

SSH connections

The SSH Connections tab lists saved hosts. Each connection has a set of fields including optional ones — grouping, jump host, start script and keep-alive.

Authentication

DR-Terminal supports three auth methods: password, private key, and FIDO2 (YubiKey) security key.

Terminal

DR-Terminal ships its own VT100/xterm emulator written from scratch in Kotlin — no WebView. It supports xterm-256color, the alt buffer (vim/less/nano), OSC 52 clipboard, focus events, and mouse tracki

SFTP

The SFTP tab (Quick Connect or saved connections) opens a remote file browser. Upload, download, rename, delete, create folders, bookmarks, transfer queue, opening files in external apps — all support

Desktop CLI

The Desktop build of DR-Terminal ships a command-line interface. Useful for IDE integrations, scripting and automation.

Security & data

The first connection to a host captures its public-key fingerprint (SHA-256) and stores it after you confirm. Subsequent connections compare the fingerprint — if it ever changes you get a clear alert.

Settings & platforms

The free tier shows an ad banner at the bottom and limits a few features. The Upgrade button (sidebar / banner / Paywall screen) opens the app store (Google Play / App Store) with options:
